Westside Los Angeles

DEXA Scan Los Angeles

Our studio is at 1441 Broadway in Santa Monica — one fixed location on the Westside, with a clinical HOLOGIC Horizon-A and 30 minutes set aside for every appointment.

What Sets This Studio Apart

More Than a Body Fat Percentage

Body composition is where most scans stop. Ours is a diagnostic-class unit, so the same appointment can cover the skeleton as well.

Bone density at the sites that count

Our scanner runs the dedicated lumbar spine, hip and forearm protocols, not just a whole-body pass. That distinction matters: a T-Score is only diagnostically usable when it comes from one of those sites.

Visceral fat is licensed, not inferred

The InnerCore option is enabled on our unit, so the abdominal fat estimate comes off the same acquisition as everything else. Plenty of body-composition setups never report the figure at all.

Assessments a body-fat number cannot give you

Ten-year fracture probability from age forty, a ten-second lateral image that shows spinal fractures, and calcification visible on that same image at no extra dose.

These produce measurements and images, not verdicts. Reading them is a physician's job. The full list of what the scanner outputs is on the DEXA scan page.

Before You Book

Questions We Get From Los Angeles Clients

Do I need a doctor's referral to book in California?

No. You can book a scan here yourself, the same way you would book any other appointment. Nothing needs to come from your physician first. If a result later turns out to be worth acting on, we tell you so and you take the report to your own doctor.

Where exactly is the studio, and where do I park?

We are at 1441 Broadway, Santa Monica, CA 90404, inside a medical clinic. Dedicated parking right at the entrance — which on this side of town is worth saying out loud, because circling for a meter is the part of an appointment nobody plans for.

Which parts of Los Angeles do you draw clients from?

Mostly the Westside: Santa Monica, Venice, Culver City, Brentwood, West Los Angeles, Marina del Rey, Pacific Palisades, and Beverly Hills. We run one fixed studio rather than a circuit of vans, so the machine, the room and the operator are the same on every visit you make.

I had a scan at another facility. Can you compare the two?

Not directly, and you should be sceptical of anyone who says otherwise. Readings from different manufacturers' scanners are not interchangeable — the reference data and calibration differ, so a change between two brands tells you more about the machines than about you. Treat your first scan with us as a new baseline and measure from there.

How much does a scan cost, and will insurance pay for it?

A single scan is $149, and prepaid packages bring the per-scan figure down. Body composition testing is generally not an insured benefit, so most people pay directly; HSA and FSA cards work. Full detail is on the pricing page.

How long should I set aside?

Block 30 minutes. The whole-body acquisition itself is under 2 minutes and the spine and hip passes about ten seconds each; the remaining time is someone sitting down with you and the report. A set of numbers with nobody to explain them is not worth much.
