A DEXA studio in Santa Monica built around one idea: measured tissue figures should be available to anyone who wants them, with a qualified person on hand to talk them through.
Our Mission
Hospital-grade measurement, without the referral
The scanner in our studio is the same class of HOLOGIC instrument that osteoporosis clinics run. The difference is that, as an adult, you can book it yourself — no physician's order, no hospital billing department, no waiting weeks for a report written for someone else to read. Scans for anyone under 18 are the exception and need a physician's order.
Every appointment runs thirty minutes, and most of that is a specialist going through your numbers with you. A report nobody explains changes nothing, so we treat that conversation as the actual product.
Why DEXA
What weight leaves out
Identical readings on the scale can hide entirely different bodies: different muscle, different fat placement, different fracture risk. A scale reports one figure and cannot tell you which of those moved.
DEXA separates them. Where fat sits, how much muscle you carry, what your skeleton is doing, and how much fat surrounds your organs — the readings clinicians look at for metabolic and bone health, and the ones a number on a scale cannot give you.
What Sets Us Apart
How this studio is set up
One fixed room, one diagnostic-class HOLOGIC scanner, and 30 minutes per appointment of which the scan itself takes under 2 minutes. The rest is someone sitting down with your report. Nothing is mobile and nothing is shared, which is what keeps two scans a year apart comparable.
